GUITAR LESSONS with rafael!
Rafael Valim is a Brazilian guitarist based in South East London; covering a range of styles from classical, through jazz, Latin, blues to pop, rock, soul and reggae. The lessons are tailored to suit the needs of the learner. For details about availability and exact location, please send a message.
A graduate of EM&T (School of Music and Technology) in Sao Paulo, Brazil, with certificates in Fusion Guitar, Classic Guitar and Music Theory courses, Rafael is a versatile musician whose unique style merges the richly eloquent classical fingering technique and delicate-sounding melodies. When playing, he elegantly glides between different musical genres, interpreting the compositions with great sensitivity and emotion.
Rafael has played in rodas de samba (samba circles), television programmes in Brazil (Inglês com Música) and many private events. In 2008, he was the support for the highly acclaimed Tânia Maria. As his musical influences he cites the works of Garoto, Dilermando Reis, João Pernambuco and Canhoto, all accomplished Brazilian composers of the 20th century. Based in London since 2011, Rafael has performed solo and with bands in Brazil, Portugal, the UK and the Czech Republic. In the UK, he has played in London’s famous Ronnie Scott’s, Brunel Museum (a Brazilian solo guitar recital), Guanabara, and a variety of private and public venues in Nottingham, Glasgow, Oxford and Bristol.
